Keraton Surakarta / Solo and Yogyakarta, has the same cultural roots, both derived from one based Royal, the kingdom of Mataram. The kingdom broke out around the 18th century, due to provoke political in the Dutch colonial era.
Keraton Surakarta Sultanate is not so popular, compared to
the palace of Yogyakarta. But this Surakarta palace has its own charm. Display

Keraton Surakarta is divided into several sections,
including the north of the square, the square south, complex Sasana Sumewa, Sri
Manganti complex, Kedaton complex, and complex Kamagangan.
On one side of the palace, there are high-rise buildings such
as tower in blue and white paint. The building is influenced by Dutch
architecture. Seen from the shape of the building that does not emphasize the
elements of carving, but using high windows with a minimalist design. The
building was called Sanggabuwana.
The building has 5 floors, with a total height of 36 meters.
The top was similar to the cap-food, with the peak of the building tangible
figure using a bow. Sanggabuwana known as a sacred building, because it is
often used as a meditation on the location of the king of Surakarta.
Not far from the palace, there is a museum containing
historical objects, relics of Surakarta palace. Among chariot and charioteer,
dagger and spear, and other heirlooms.
One more palace in Surakarta is Puro Mangkunegaran palace.
Characteristic of this palace is, on the sides of the gazebo there is a statue
of a lion that supposedly imported from Germany.
On the palate there is a gazebo batik painting like a flame
of fire, with the composition of yellow, white, pink, blue, purple, black, and
red. Some interesting part is Pringgitan, which became the location of a puppet
show. Ageng palace which is a sort of museum, and area of residence occupants
of the palace is closed to the public.
If curious, better take some time for the holidays, by
visiting the palace-palace in Surakarta. Do not forget to wear clothes neat and
polite (pants or skirt should cover the knee), during a visit at the court of
Surakarta.
